Ending homelessness for good

Home is important - maybe the most important thing in our lives. We come back to it every night, and it provides an important sense of security. Finding the right place to live and, of course, the right people to live with can be a struggle. But imagine not having a home at all.

There are currently around 160,000 households in Britain experiencing the worst forms of homelessness. If we carry on as we are that's expected to double in the next 25 years.

But it doesn't have to be that way.

That's why we're partnering with Crisis, the national charity for homeless people, to support their Everybody In campaign to end homelessness for good – in the next 10 years.

How we're helping

Every month, we pay one winner's rent for the month with our Live Rent Free competition. Once a year, we pay one winner's for a whole YEAR.

We know that this money has been life-changing for SpareRoom users, and we realised it could help more people too. So we've decided to match every prize amount from now over the coming year, and donate the same sum to Crisis. This will even include the big, annual prize too.

But it's not just about money. Crisis really want to get younger people engaged and active with their campaign to end homelessness – to help spread the word and make a real difference. We know housing and homelessness are really important to SpareRoom users, which is why we're partnering with them. Together, we hope to make a change.

As Jon Sparkes, Chief Executive of Crisis explains, “This will be an incredible opportunity not only to raise money for the work we do, but to join forces with SpareRoom and their users – many of whom are young people looking to make a difference in our country and support causes close to their hearts. It is young people like these who will help us truly tackle this issue, and ultimately, help bring an end to homelessness once and for all.”

To add your support to Everybody In and join the campaign to end homelessness for good, just go to Crisis. And of course, keep entering Live Rent Free – by doing so you're already helping.
