Amazing London flatshare - pay what you can afford

Rupert Hunt is offering a room in his home in Spitalfields, East London, on a ‘pay what you can afford’ basis.

Over the past decade, Rupert has welcomed 14 housemates into his home, ranging in age from 21 to 51, and asking them to pay only what they can afford. This means that they’ve paid as little as £0 up to full market rate!

Why?

Rupert says “My last housemates just moved out and I miss having them around. But rents have become so expensive and I’m keen to find someone who fits the house, not just someone who can afford the rent.”

More importantly, Rupert is regularly away on business, so is looking for someone to help look after his cat, Boo. So someone who works from home a lot is preferred as she loves humans and requires an inordinate amount of attention.

What’s on offer?

Rupert lives in a beautifully restored 300-year-old Georgian townhouse, including a cosy lounge, cinema room, music room, dining room, and garden. He’s offering an en-suite room that gives his new housemate almost an entire floor to themselves. Oh, we should probably mention - Rupert is also the founder of SpareRoom!

How to apply

Check out the full listing and house-tour here: spareroom.co.uk/boo, to see the full details and send Rupert a message (like you would any other SpareRoom ad) as well as a little bit about yourself to let him know that you’re interested.

Also, make sure you have a live ‘Room Wanted Ad’. And don't forget to upload a video introducing yourself, explaining what you're looking for, and describing what makes you a great flatmate!

The room is available from 1st November and the new housemate will need to be available to move in the same weekend.
