How we’re helping
At SpareRoom we’ve been running Live Rent Free for 14 years – and in that time we’ve given away a whopping £147,000! to our lucky winners. This has been a life-changing amount of money for many, which is what helped us realise we could help more people too.
So when we joined forces with Crisis back in 2018, we decided to match every Live Rent Free prize amount from then onwards and donate the same amount to the charity – including our huge annual prize which is opening again from October 1st 2023! (More details on how to enter below).
To date we’ve donated £89,469.65 to Crisis, helping fund their year-round services, providing vital support so that people can rebuild their lives, and are supported out of homelessness for good.
Mayaz Rahman, Head of Corporate Engagement at Crisis, says: “The last few years have made us appreciate how vital it is to have a place to call home - not only for our physical and mental wellbeing, but also for our dignity and security. By the end of 2023, it’s predicted that 300,000 households could face the worst forms of homelessness – homelessness that is isolating, dangerous and devastating.
We have seen a stark increase in people accessing our services. This increase in demand is directly related to the cost-of-living crisis. We know the situation is expected to worsen as more people are at risk of homelessness who haven’t previously been homeless.
That is why we are thrilled to be supported by SpareRoom and their “Live Rent Free” prize draw. One lucky winner will have their rent paid for the month and it will also raise vital funds that will mean we can continue to work with hundreds of people to end their homelessness through housing and employment advice, wellbeing sessions and training opportunities. All of the money raised through the partnership with Spareroom is unrestricted and supports Crisis all year round services at our 11 centres across the country.

From the 1st of every month, we open our Live Rent Free Prize Draw to any UK renter over the age of 18 and pay for the lucky winner’s rent for a whole month! To enter, all you need to do is follow this link (T&C’s apply.
